To preface this, I have a cosplay event on Saturday and I decided I really wanted to try to make her weapon! I realized I probably wasn’t experienced enough to try and make it out of Eva foam, so I 3D printed it instead with the help of my brother.

I had to futz with pieced or else they might not print correctly, but I managed to scale everything correctly. Some things had to be dremeled down to fit comfortably but then I glued everything together.

After I attempted to prime it with spray paint, but it just had too much build up and I ended up wiping it off with acetone and using Gesso to prime it instead.

Of course after I sprayed it with two thin layers of gold leaf spray paint (waiting 30 minute increments in between coats). I also sprayed it with a Matte varnish because I didn’t particularly like how shiny and glittery the gold made it (also the gold easily lifted off).

Finally I added details like dry brushing a more rugged metal finish on the gold and writing HP’s initials on the lid of cream starter! And yeah I’m really happy and proud of myself with the finished product. This was the first time ever making a cosplay prop!
