The DuckyDee as Formaggio videos got me thinking about the character's ancestry, and since JoJo has a lot of references to real world events, I came up with this theory:
Formaggio is of partial African descent. How? Between 1890 and 1941, Italy colonized numerous countries in Africa (Libya, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia), and at some point, his (great-)grandparents moved to Italy to either escape political turmoil (or maybe they were just interested in Italian culture). After they had children and grandchildren, Formaggio was born!
