Now i have a lot of bias because it is my favourite band but we're gonna break it down and me being one of 3 fans of this band im going to try and figure out why Araki chose this name and why its so fitting
In terms of design there's not much to look at he's just a silly little yellow goober not much but in terms of its ability, there's a lot to unpack
Now Survivor gets its name from the american rock band formed in 1978 by 3 people Jim Peterik, Frankie Sullivan and Dave Bickler.
Now their commercial success early wasn't very good with the first album really only doing good in 1 state but its 2nd album may have not done well but 1 of its singles would catch the attention of the best thing that could happen to the band, Sylvester Stallone.
Now Stallone had heard the band on the radio and after being rejected by Queen to use Another one bites the dust Stallone asked the band if they could make a song for his new movie Rocky III that song would be the smash hit Eye of the Tiger.
Now what does this have to do with its ability well i think Araki was inspired by 2 factors and the first one are the rocky movies and it fits with the arc that survivor makes people angry and yes Survivor may have been inspired by fight club which did come out 2 years earlier but i believe that it that the ability was somewhat inspired by rocky as boxers usually have to anger eachother and get angry before each fight to preform as best as possible, But the other factor that may have played in survivor's ability was the band itself, as after their breakout hit Survivor continued to get more hits under their belt though tensions in the band were extreme with Frankie Sullivan wanting writing credits for songs he barely contributed to and him wanting Jim to change some of the lyrics he wrote to his liking and tried to get one of his friends Tommy Shaw from Styx to try and convince him to do it.
Needless to say tensions were high and they got higher as Bickler left the band as he was losing his voice and was replaced with Jimi Jamison and they debuted their 5th album Vital signs to great success with multiple hits from that album getting onto the top 40 of the billboards and as the years passed tensions only got worse as the 3 members were constantly fighting with eachother slowly disintegrating their relationship with eachother and now Jamison wanted credits for songs he barely contributed to and when their album too hot to sleep flopped the band went into an indefinite hiatus and Jamison went on a solo career and formed another band called Survivor, in which he got sued for which prompted a reunion with the original members including bickler who had recovered and this is basically all of their history up to the point where the stand first debut but there is one thing i forgot to mention as before eye of the tiger Peterik had written a song called Rockin into the night which was fully recorded though the producers thought it was too southern for them and gave it to 38. Special and it became their first hit needles to say Sullivan was extremely bitter about this as Peterik wrote more songs for 38. Special and other artist Sullivan refused to preform this song which may have played into the fact that Guccio isn't Survivor's original stand user and the fact we actually know (kinda) its original user
Welp that all folks if you wanna learn more about the band i recommend watching this video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCvr1FCt3s8&t=871s&ab_channel=B-MovieRoll-Out
Now in terms of design they are one of the simpler ones in part 5 they could be a reference to coneheads but its unlikely though they seem to resemble not just bullets but rogues and assassins as they wear masks similar to a superhero with a much more sadistic touch to it with their masks also giving them their expressions with 3 having an angrier one and 5 having a much more panicked one because 5 was supposed to 4 but 3 constantly bullies 5 as this is mista's conciousness bully what he sees as unlucky.
Now for the music portion unlike its design its music reference has a much richer history even though the band lasted only 2 years. Now the sex pistols are one of the most iconic bands of all time starting the punk movement as this was to counter the UK's strict monarchal society and was for rebellion and they were tired of being pushed around and told what to do and so they called to the tired youths and they responded with roars and riots all over the UK and elsewhere and these concerts would always end in fights and aggression though even if the government or angry parents would try to stop them.
though Araki may have actually taken inspiration from the actual members themselves as there were 5 members of the pistols though if you count their manager Malcom McLaren that makes 6.
#1 is depicted as the leader this could be Steve Jones the founder of the band and their Guitarist
#2 could be McLaren as he worked closely with them and usually with Jones and would push the Pistols to the very limit to get publicity and was a much more rogue manager just like how #2 is depicted as a rogue with his mask and is #1 right hand man,
#3 could be Johnny Rotten the most aggressive one Rotten would go out of his way to do the most controversial acts imaginable without a care in the world as well as starting fights during concerts paralleled with #3's personality being the most aggressive and usually bullying #5 who speaking of could represent Glenn Matlock the seemingly most tame of the pistols Matlock was fired by McLaren for apparently talking to much about the Beatles which went against the image of the pistols being these aggressive punk rockers who don't like the rolling stones or the beatles this seemingly reflected with #5 being the most different of the pistols being paranoid and usually crying and seen being bullied by #3.
then there's #6 who may Represent Matlock's replacement Sid Viscous and Viscious was known to be extremely violent and aggressive sparking fights where people would be bloodied and knocked out and he drank a lot while taking drugs and was usually partying but one fateful night while in a hotel room his girlfriend Nancy Spungeon was found dead with a knife in her abdomen and this case is unsolved due to Sid not knowing what happened and testimonies contradicting eachother though only a few months later he would die of a heroin overdose and the case is cold to this day with #6 reflecting that being the most violent of the pistols and having a thirst for blood then there's #7 who is the most bland which yeah Paul Cook drummer his nickname was cookie yeah not much there just like #7 and thats my breakdown of the Sex pistols Survivor is up next and then Soft & Wet
This was originally supposed to be Survivor but all that got deleted so we're here now.
So there's a lot to unpack here firstly his design's inspiration from star wars. its obviously a reference to Sgt Appo of the 501st and his down pointing arrow on his helmet, but in all seriousness,
Araki has stated that his design is inspired by Darth Maul even comparing the 2 at one point, and it makes sense, now the clone wars hadn’t come out yet. so Darth Maul was pretty much the cool red guy with the double lightsabers to most people, and that makes sense as both C-Moon and Maul Barely have any time to shine appearing very rarely until their fight with the heroes and they don’t speak much and Maul's Zabrak horns are directly referenced in C-Moon's chest piece and head.
C-Moon also carries Whitesnake's markings of ACTG the four Bases of DNA Adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine and C-Moon like Whitesnake's ability has something to do with the human body but to understand its ability we'll need to get to it's music reference which comes from the Paul McCartney and The Wings song C Moon.
Now after the Beatles had broken up in 1970 McCartney decided to start a new band Wings they released multiple singles but the one we want to focus on is "Hi Hi Hi" which was banned by the BBC for its alleged drug and sexual themes and the B-Side C Moon was played instead C Moon peaked at number 5 and it seems like Araki took influence from that, because C-Moon would only be used until Made In Heaven now the there's a line in the song that goes like this "it would be L7 an I'd never get to heaven if i fill my head with glue".
This one line here may have inspired C-Moon's ability as L read upside down is 7 like how C-Moon shifts gravity upside down but its not the only think he inverts as when punched, C-Moon can invert the structure of any object wether it be metal or a body part and then there's "i'd never get to heaven if i filled my head with glue". This seems to fit with the 14 phrases ad Pucci's focus on achieving the heaven plan as if he gets distracted or his mind starts to fill with other thoughts Pucci's plan may have never taken action which is why he needs to clear his mind and stay focused. anyways thats where im gonna end it

Now stone ocean's anime has been out for a while and i hesitated to do this right when batch 2 came out but its been a few weeks and im gonna assume everyone's watched it
I've always been fascinated with the stand of Yo-Yo ma even before the anime there was always this charm it had and ik it gets a lot of hate and a lot of people don't seem to understand it so im gonna breakdown why Araki gave it this name (this is just speculation its not 100% confirmed so yeah)
I wanna start with its design
Now yoyo ma looks like this
His eyes seem to look like glasses which the cellist actually has his body also seems to match the cellist's as well and not to mention the stand as a whole seems to resemble a cello going back to who its referencing but that's not all, since it is an automatic stand its has its own sentience but it seems to be far more intelligent than other stands and planning out attacks extremely quickly and deceiving the targets and has much more knowledge than most other stands knowing about swamps and how to use a boat, which may be a reference to Ma himself as when he was only 3 he played the violin, piano and viola and when he was 4 he started playing the cello and his dad only got the best teacher for him and then at age 7 he played for presidents eisenhower and kennedy and this natural talent may have played into the stand as both are extremely intelligent and both have a natural talent for something, with the cellist being a natural well cellist and the stand being a natural at deceiving his targets and asassination bringing this whole thing all together and people still say this stand is stupid

Let's get the most obvious one out of the way
Renee Magritte's man in a bowler hat paintings
Prince uses a lot of U's to replace you in his song titles, especially with i would die for U
Elvis's microphone the sure model 55
This leads us into

JUST HEAR ME OUT RN OK
I feel like araki was inspired by Eminem and his Appearance while making wekapipo as they're both somewhat slim (Shady) in figure both of them have a flat buzzcut haircut facing down and are usually seen with angry or somewhat slanted eyebrows close to their eyes also Eminem was already extremely popular during the run of sbr with the Eminem show achieving massive. Success and encore releasing the same year part 7 was starting and get the guns did release a year before wekapipo's introduction so araki was probably exposed to a lot of Eminem before part 7 and before wekapipo's introduction but this is just my speculation and its not confirmed but maybe in the future araki may just confirm my Suspicions
Had this idea like 2 year ago when I still cared about Jojo, but was too lazy. For most of the album references that also reference a title track on that album I just listened to the song. I will gladly elaborate on my godly music takes, like White Album F.
Oh yeah also no Velvet Underground or Lou Reed is disappointing.
So I was jammin to the classics during Algebra (I do lot of stuff on here during that class lol), and on my playlist I saw this.
Why tho!? Its such a good song, why would they do that? Now I'm even more depressed today then I already was :(
I wanna hear your musical references that should have already been stand names or at least have been in JJBA so far.
I'll give some examples:
Guns N Roses (band with Axl Rose, made hits like Paradise City and Live and Let Die)
Master of Puppets (iconic Metallica album, plus a perfect stand name)
OutKast (90s hip hop duo with Big Boi and Andre 3000, Araki has already used references to it like the Boom Boom Family and Hey Ya! but I want a stand named OutKast)
Anthrax (kickass band from the same era as bands like Metallica, has good songs like Packaged Rebellion, Got The Time and Madhouse)
A warning to people who didn't understand in part 1 , the localized names came up in the years 2013-2014,(with All Star Battle and Eyes Of Heaven) so any song/album/band or singer before 2013, COUNTS as a reference.
