Father Styx (スティクス神父 Sutikusu-shinpu) is an alcoholic priest who discovers Dio's coffin in the boat Jonathan and Erina board.

Personality[]

Father Styx is an alcoholic. While he believes in God, he complains that he is often sent to "nasty places" on missionary trips. He also has a dislike of getting dirty. Despite this he is relied on by his peers.

Synopsis[]

History[]

Father Styx was a presumably Catholic Priest that boarded the ship to America, the same ship Jonathan Joestar and Erina Joestar went on for their Honeymoon. It is revealed in a flashback that he was assigned a mission by the other priests to travel to a Mexican village in order to convert more people there to their faith.

Phantom Blood[]

After the ship set off, around the time Jonathan discovers Wang Chan, Styx is seen gorging himself in alcohol, apparently unhappy with his assignment. He mentions that his superiors usually send him to undesirable places. He had also dropped his crucifix into one the metal grates located inside the ship. The grate connected to the Ship's hold where the cargo was stored, so the priest had to make his way downstairs.

In the hold, he finds his crucifix on top of an ornate style box. He picks up the cross and notices that the lock to the box is actually unlocked. Styx goes in for a closer look, but having touched the box caused a security mechanism on it to activate, causing the gem located above the lock to shoot out and fire straight into Styx's face. The impact from the gem causes Styx's head to explode and he dies abruptly. It is later revealed that this box was actually the coffin that contained Dio Brando's severed head.

In Video Games[]

Phantom Blood (PS2 Game)[]

Despite the game faithfully following the manga's story, Styx is entirely absent from the game.

Trivia[]

  • Father Styx's English voice actor Chris Hackney would later voice Ghiaccio.
  • Father Styx being on the ship may be a reference to the song "Come Sail Away" by Styx.
