Gyro Zeppeli's Mission, Part 1 (ジャイロ・ツェペリの宿命 その① Jairo Tseperi no Shukumei Sono 1), originally Zeppeli Family (ツェペリ一族 Tseperi Ichizoku) in the WSJ release, is the twentieth chapter of Steel Ball Run and the seven hundred seventy-second chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga.

Summary

Johnny spinning nails power promptly defeats L. A., severely crippling him. Johnny also notice that his legs have moved during the fight. Tim understands that they are in the Devil's Palm which gave Johnny a Stand, and tell him and Gyro to get away quickly from the place for fear of being lost. Leaving a sobbing L.A. for dead, he angrily reveals that Gyro will never reach the finish line for a bounty has been placed on his head.

Some time later, Johnny demands that Gyro explain how he could have a bounty on his head, as he too is targeted by association with him.

A flashback details Gyro Zeppeli's past:

Gyro Zeppeli was born in the upper class, his father Gregorio Zeppeli being a doctor. Gregorio taught him the Spin, and at age 13, introduced Gyro to his true profession: royal executioner. Using the Spin in conjunction with medicine, the Zeppelis have been royal executioners for generation, seeking to carry the death sentence in the most peaceful manner. At age 25, Gyro would succeed his father as executioner.
