Kailua-Kona - Flight Waiting Time, Part 1 (カイルア・コナ - フライト待ち時間 その①,Kairua Kona - Furaito Machijikan Sono 1) originally titled The Owner of the Lava Rock (溶岩の持ち主, Yōgan no Mochinushi) is the ninth chapter of The JOJOLands and the nine hundred and sixty-sixth chapter of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga.
Summary[]
Jodio receives a phone call from his mother, Barbara Ann, who asks where he is. Jodio says they went to Hawai'i island and are there now. When asked why Dragona won't pick up their phone, Jodio says that Dragona must still have it on airplane mode. Barbara asks what they want for dinner. She suggests Chicken Burritos, and asks Jodio to ask Dragona for her. Paco asks Jodio who it was who delivered the package, and said that it had to be someone of the lower levels of the underworld. They speculate that whoever is following them now sent the cats, and was after the Lava Rock, likely since Rohan came to Hawai'i. Jodio recalls looking back and seeing a map of some region in Hawai'i's mountains, likely where the Lava Rock came from. Jodio tells Paco that he doesn't care about the threat. He says that he promised Rohan that if they weren't on that plane, he would destroy the rock. If the rock is that important to the ones tracking them, then they won't risk them smashing it. He then shows Paco the concept art they stole from Rohan, and mention that it has been drawn in ink.
Back in the store, the clerk and the guard make Dragona and Usagi empty out their pockets and bags. They do not find the watch much to the confusion of the guard and the clerk. Usagi and Dragona talk, asking how only one watch disappeared when they touched all four to the Lava Rock. Despite not finding anything, the clerk proceeds to call the police anyway. Dragona and Usagi tell them that they're illegally detaining them and will press charges unless they're allowed to leave. This causes the clerk to stop calling the police and tells them that they're free to go, but only if they wait long enough to check the cameras to make sure they didn't do anything. As they watch the recording, it shows four watches on the table. However, as one of the watches goes missing, the clerk's shoulder creates a blindspot so the camera can't see what's happening. They then move to camera #2 which shows the watch hooking around Dragona's bracelet. She then checks and finds that it's in the pocket of her pendant, and that Smooth Operators brought it there, but she doesn't remember activating her stand or trying to take it at all. They then decide to do a body search of her and take off her pendant, but find only the Lava Rock, but not the watch. Usagi then points out that the watch is attached to the clerk's shoe. He tries to get it but it breaks free and begins to move on its own. Dragona states that they're not doing anything. The clerk sees this and then apologizes profusely to Dragona and Usagi for their blunder. The watch once more attempts to leave the tray, and the shop keeper and guards attempt to catch it. Usagi and Dragona just leave, certain that, even if not on this island, the watch will return to them.
Outside, Jodio and Paco contemplate what to do, and Paco asks if they should call back Dragona and Usagi since they have the Lava Rock. Jodio agrees. But just then, another Paco appears and says that they didn't have any Chicken Burritos, and he had to settle for some fried abalone. Jodio then realizes that the person he was talking to wasn't actually Paco. He looks back, and the fake Paco begins to crumble. The fake Paco then says that he was giving Jodio a chance to give the Lava Rock back before it was too late. But now it IS too late. The fake Paco pulls a knife and cuts Jodio's throat.
