Alright, I don't know whether this has been addressed yet at any point, but Jotaro's and DIO's timestops thanks to their Stands got me thinking about a fatal flaw in their abilities.
So, this is what I've gathered from the timestop ability and how it works: When timestop occurs from either DIO or Jotaro, it doesn't matter, time is completely still. This means everything stops, atom vibrations stop, movements stop and forces are stopped. Except for the person stopping time.
When DIO or Jotaro are within the realm of stopped time, their atoms are physically vibrating. This is a force that exists within timestop which only affects DIO and Jotaro, while others it does not apart in the little window of time when Jotaro or DIO touch a person or object. It is also shown gravity is a thing that affects DIO and Jotaro within timestop, yet for everyone else gravity is stopped in time (actually, this bit about gravity is a bit hazy as Araki wasn't that specific with the idea of Stand jumps, making DIO and Jotaro look in flight while in reality they're extended jumps made by their Stands. It is also shown that DIO can jump during stopped time and just hang in the air, but other sources show that gravity works for him as well, so it's a two-ended sword).
Now, here's the problem I pose with Timestop: The Earth spins around its axis at roughly 1,000 miles per hour. The Earth orbits around the sun at roughly 66,000 miles per hour. The Sun travels around the Milky Way galaxy at roughly 483,000 miles per hour. With this in mind and the fact that forces still act upon Jotaro and DIO or anyone who stops time, assuming timestop is planetary at least, wouldn't the person who stops time get flung in the direction of where the planetary and intergalactic systems were moving at 483,000 miles per hour? Since the Earth at least has stopped in its tracks, and if timestop is galaxy level in range then stopped the Milky Way from moving, then the person who has stopped time would retain the speed that they were moving at before time stopped, as forces still affect them in the realm of stopped time. I'm pretty sure DIO couldn't just hit the brakes when he stopped time, even though his Stand is calced to move FTL, that still is a pretty big feat if he could.
So, timestop has some obvious setbacks if forces enact upon objects and/or people which aren't affected by timestop. God damn it, Araki, be more realistic, would you?
