A translation for Purple Haze Feedback was started on tumblr ( http://phazefeedback.tumblr.com/ ). Also an annonymous wiki user told me he will made a translation too and he will fill us about his progress.
Wow! i was about to conctact you on that issue. You have the two novels?
You can help in 2 ways:
1)Easy way(More recomended and the one we need now): Put a detailed summary(Full of spoilers) of them in their articles and complete the characters related with the novels. With that we can complete the article and the non-italian or japanese can learn about the novels itself. If you need any help please ask on the forums
2)The hard way (In the future , maybe): As some sort of Jojo Project (If you have a lot of time and some people to help you) We can make a translation to English. I'm about to obtain Jorge Joestar Novel and will search for a translator. My idea is to translate all the novels some day!!
If you can help on those articles(on the easy way) eternal thanks would be granted to you!
Yes, I have both novels, though I still have to finish reading the part 5 one.
I'll try and do my best to put both novels summaries on the wiki as soon as possible. I'll begin re-reading the part 3 novel right away.
Actually i'm studying in Italy to become a translator, so the project's idea interests me. However, since it would be the translation of a translation, I would need someone who speaks English as first language to re-read the whole thing before posting it. That is in order to avoid Duwang-like horrors (though I don't think I'm THAT bad at English!)
I'm glad to know you are actually interested in translation. About that i am planinng on making a Blogs external to the wikia for that project (to keep a distance between both projects) There i will upload Jojo Material to translate and i suppose you can eventually post your translation and someone can read your translation and correct it.
I'll start posting part of the summary of the part 3 novel tomorrow. I'll update it as I progress the story. Then we'll talk about the translation project: translating from italian to english is actually easier than the opposite :)
So, I'm re-reading the Part 3 novel, and I'm already going to post part of the summary on the wiki. I'm actually noticing that the Italian translator knew nothing about Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and her translation is therefore kinda confusing in some points. I have no problem since, unlike the original translator, I'm a Jojo fan, so I can detect and correct the mistakes easily... I do believe a translation project is possibile.
So, I started the summary of the part 3 novel and I have added the charcters' description according to the novel. The novel is divided in two chapters, each with several mini-chapters. I've posted the summary of the first four mini-chapters, I'll post more soon.
One problem: the official Italian names of Absalom and Michal are actually Absolom and Micaru. Ani is the same in the Italian version. Should I change their names to those present on the wiki, or should we rename those characters' pages?
Furthermore: should we change the article's title to: JoJo's Bizarre Adveture (Part 3 Novel)? The "Genesis of Universe" subtitle was used by Kappa Edizioni to promote the novel in Italy and to distinguish it from the Manga. However, none of the printed copies of the novel present the Genesis of Universe subtitle. We might mention it somewhere in the article, if you think it's important, but we should definitely change the article's name.
I'm also planning to scan and upload the (few) images present in the novel. Among them, I'd like to post those with the characters description I've already translated and put in the article. There are also images of the three stand wielders.
1)The problem about names: I always prefer to use both names (or all the names). We can make the proper clarifications on the article as to what the Italian names and the Japanese. My idea is that the "Other names" Redirect to the proper name article(or the most used name).
2)About the JoJo's Bizarre Adveture (Part 3 Novel) is the same as i write before. We can make "JoJo's Bizarre Adveture (Part 3 Novel)" the main article the other title redirect to that, and in the article we made the clarification you mentioned.
3) If you can scan that would be great is just what we need.
More summary posted. I should finish summarising Chapter 1 by tomorrow. Chapter 2 is much shorter, then I'll update the characters and Stands pages and add pictures.
Edit: the summary of part 3 novel is finished. I might consider adding pictures and modifying the characters and Stands chapter this evening. Meanwhile, have a look at the page and tell me what you think.
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to inform you that the summary for the Part 5 novel is already on the wiki. I still have to edit the characters pages and add images.
Tell me if the summaries look good. I hope they are like Bohemian King asked for. Fortunately, Golden Heart, Golden Ring was actually perfectly translated in Italian. When the translation project is ready, you can count me in. ;D
I just read the article and I think this very well. Sums up the story and is well explained. But I wanted to add two things:
1) What is not clear to me (if not clear in the novel) is whether Fugo had also received orders from the boss (ie estimate that this happens shortly after abandon). The chief gave orders Fugo Rigatoni and kill the group?
2) Some business of the English as:
"The Situation Seems desperate when, thanks to Buccellati, Coniglio recovers and Manages to Stand tame her."
I think I should say something like "The situation seemed hopeless, until with Buccellati's help, Coniglio recovers ..." (I think this is wrong Either but, in short, the article only needs a cleaning)
About the translations I am hoping to have Jorge Joestar material. If i am lucky enough, i will scan the " Araki Rumblings" from the other parts aside SBR.
I will send you a message when the Blog is online.
1) It was Sogliola who received the order to kill the gang directly from Diavolo and it was Sogliola that chooses Rigatoni and Fugo to put the plan in action. Fugo is practically forced to follow Sogliola's orders, or else he will be labelled as a traitor. Fugo does not want to be killed by Passione, but does not want to betray his comrades either. So he agrees to follow Sogliola's plan, but willingly omits that Giorno is immune to Purple Haze... ruining the plan. Since Sogliola (the only one who knows about this) dies, the failure of the plan is blamed on the old man, rather than on Fugo.
Summing up: Fugo manages to save his comrades from Sogliola and makes it appear as a mistake Sogliola made. This way he won't be labelled as a traitor by Passione.
This may be worth adding if it wasn't clear enough.
2) Yeah, I also felt that part was poorly written. I'm going to clean it myself as soon as possible.
Thank you for pointing out these things. I really like writing summaries, I might consider giving MetallicKaiser a hand with his Chapters work. :)
I will use that blog to upload material related to translation and general Jojo Material (I have all the images of Rohan Spin Offs but two of them in french). I will also Link the other scans and make my own scans to link from there. Later i can make you an "Author" to write post on the blog and we can start the translation of the books there, updating the progress.
If you want to talk via mail, mine is Sebastiap@gmail.com or BohemianXing@gmail.com
just click the right arrow. Of course I don't want all of them, as there are so many images I still didn't finish seeing them.
I would do it myself, but i'm unable to upload images due to my internet.
Good find, but are all these pictures really from Jorge Joestar? I haven't bought the book yet, but there's probably around a 100+ pictures here. Alot of them from parts all the way up to 7. Bit confused what to use here.
Pedro, i just saw the gallery and Yes. It's very confusing, i saw characters for various part. However, that can be part of the book or at least related to its main story. Better to wait a little before uploading the images. In a few days (I hope) i will have my copy to check this out.
I'm glad to help this wiki as much as I can. Of course the pictures do need some cleaning, especially since my scanner is rather old.
I've just added the few last pictures on the Novel page: since they contain Italian text feel free to remove them if you think they're not necessary. I believe that the one with the novel's antagonists should be kept because it's one of the very few pictures to represent them.
I am also surprised to see that these pictures are nowhere to be found on the web... but now our wiki can claim to be the first to actually post them! ;D
I'm going to help Bohemian King with the translation project, but I'm glad to give my contribution to other things on the wiki as well.
Kai: If you want, we can make a forum or a section for cleanings (ot to ask for cleanings), so we can help any users who scan images on itw own.
Diamante: Yours if it was a triumphant return. I am happy with your work and proud to have you as a member again. About the translation project, the sellers toldme that the cristmas and new year has delayed the books... so no new scans for now (Anyway that was the japanese ones)
About the italians you already have (and made a summary!), if you are interested in doing a translation, we can do this either through on the blog or to make the project becoming known in other JoJo forums . This is also to be able to receive credit for your work and effort not only anonymous. After all, this is something extra to the wikia and deserve to have your work recognized by those who read your work. The help I can offer (besides maybe spreading it or helping you with any question Informatica) is a cleaner.
Anyway, i just want to talk about that project to check the details and to take the time required. Afterall, the wikia is the first priority and you've done a very good summaries on these parts.
Guys, what ever hsppened to the translation of Golden Heart, Golden Ring? I am asking because I think i could help translating from italian to english and im at a point in my life where i can devout most of my free time to it, if given the material, otherwise i will look about buying the book myself and getting it started anyways, my italian isnt that great but im studying it and i think my jojoknowledge would get me by
Good Question. I believe Diamante was attempting it, but never succeeded. I could go ahead and buy the italian novel, though scanning 228 pages may be kind of challenging. It'd probably just be easier to obtain the novel first hand and then type out the translation on a word processor. But If that's not an option, I could upload some pf the italian pages in batches until theyre translated, and then release more afterwards.
Well, i just bought the damn novel on a whim and boy did it cost me a pretty penny, that aside its gonna take a little while for it to get here since its actually shipping from Italy. I cant promise anything othe than devouting myself to it however im still just an itLian student
I would be willing to translate Golden Heart, Golden Ring from JP. I am not fluent, so translations are... rough, I suppose; I'm just not a master of the language, is all. If someone could provide scans, I could get on it faster, but considering my interest in this novel I might as well buy it on Amazon* and scan/read myself. (They might have it up in Japantown, so I'll check for that when I go tomorrow.)
*If I buy it on Amazon right now there's a chance it might not even get here until the end of next month, just a warning.
